As August comes to a close, here is a look back at everything we’ve been working on this month. Let’s dive into our latest updates.

Since the remaining stock will be limited, the best way to secure your copy is by pre-ordering right now.

Great News! A Japanese Version of Iwo Jima: Hell on Earth is Coming!

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with our friends at Bonsai Games, who will be releasing a Japanese version of Iwo Jima: Hell on Earth.

3. GAME ACCESSORIES:

Includding new stuff to our Game Accessories Section!

We have an important announcement regarding our game accessories. Due to challenges with on-demand production and shipping from our location in Spain, we are temporarily pausing sales of these accessories to the US and several other international locations.

Please note that this does not affect pre-orders for our games, as we have a dedicated fulfillment center in the US to handle those shipments.

We are actively working on a long-term solution to make our accessories available worldwide again and will share an update as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

4. WEBSTORE EXPERIENCE

We’re constantly working to improve your shopping experience, and we have a few updates to share.

We’ve reorganized the main menu to make it easier to find what you’re looking for. Games and Accessories now have their own separate sections, each with its own filters.

As a reminder, once our first two games, Iwo Jima and Sea & Steel, arrive at our fulfillment centers, we’ll add a new “In Stock” tab under the Games section. This will allow you to see exactly what is available for immediate purchase.

For our customers in the US, you will now see all prices in US dollars instead of Euros, making checkout more seamless.

We hope these changes make it easier for you to navigate our store, and as always, thank you for your continued support!

Iwo Jima and Sea & Steel: We’re Heading to the Printer!

We’re excited to share a major update about our first two titles, Iwo Jima: Hell on Earth and Sea & Steel: Columbus’ Voyages. Both games are officially on their way to the printer!

First, a huge thank you to everyone who pre-ordered. Your support has been incredible and made this all possible.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The Printing Process Has Begun: Our manufacturing partner has the files, and the printing process is officially underway. We’re on the path to getting these games into your hands.
  • Shipping Before Christmas: If there are no unexpected delays, we’re working hard to start shipping before Christmas. We’ll continue to post updates as we get closer, keeping you informed on our progress.
  • Limited Availability: This first print run is a very limited quantity. For now, the only way to get a copy is directly through our official webstore. These games will not be available in any other retail stores. If you haven’t pre-ordered yet, now is the time to secure your copy.

The Hidden Story Behind the Iconic Photo

Here is an interesting fact I discovered while researching this battle. The iconic image that inspired me to select Iwo Jima was, in fact, that of the second American flag to be raised. After the U.S. Marines secured the summit of Mount Suribachi on D+4, they took a pipe from a Japanese radar station at the top and attached a 137 x 71-centimeter flag, raising it over Mount Suribachi at 10:20 a.m. Sergeant Louis R. Lowery documented the event.

Raising the First Flag on Iwo Jima by SSgt. Louis R. Lowery, USMC

Moments after raising the flag, a roar erupted from below Mount Suribachi as Marines on the ground, engaged in combat, spontaneously cheered at the sight of the flag. The moment was deeply impactful, with the prolonged shouts and cheers audible from the summit of Mount Suribachi. In addition, ships on the beach and ships at sea joined in, sounding their horns and whistles. This emotional and patriotic moment was truly extraordinary.

Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima, by Joe Rosenthal of the Associated Press

However, Colonel Johnson learned that Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal wished to keep the small flag. Consequently, the original flag was removed and replaced with a larger ceremonial flag from LST-779, resulting in the capture of the famous photograph we all know today.

In Iwo Jima: Hell on Earth, capturing Mount Suribachi is crucial, just like seizing the three airfields. If your US forces secure Mount Suribachi before the end of Game Turn 3, you’ll get a Victory Point! Check out the “Rising the Flag” marker on our game board (pictured above).

P-300 New Game! 1806: The Elbe Campaign

We’re thrilled to officially unveil a new prototype from Santiago González: our very first Napoleonic game for the Neva Wargames P-300 System! This is a period we’ve been eager to explore, and we’ve finally found the perfect match. We initially announced this exciting new title, “1806: The Elbe Campaign,” at the Vassal Forever 2025 wargaming convention on June 8th, where it generated significant buzz as our new “Skirmish” title.

This game is incredibly compact yet packed with fascinating strategic depth. We’ve poured a lot into making it a truly engaging experience. Dive in below for more details, and if you’re as excited as we are to see “1806: The Elbe Campaign” on your table, don’t forget to wish-list it and help us reach that crucial 300 mark soon!

Relive Napoleon’s Masterpiece in “1806: The Elbe Campaign”
Get ready, wargamers! We’re thrilled to announce the latest addition to our P300 system at Neva Wargames: “1806: The Elbe Campaign.” This Napoleonic operational-level game for 2 players delivers an intense experience in up to 120 minutes.

The Stage is Set: A Clash of Empires
The year is 1806. The War of the Fourth Coalition has erupted, drawing Prussia into a desperate alliance with Russia, Saxony, Sweden, and the United Kingdom against Napoleon’s formidable First French Empire.

At this point, Napoleon’s Imperial Army was arguably at its peak. Forged in the fires of Ulm and Austerlitz, his veteran soldiers were a perfectly integrated and highly trained force. On the other side, the Prussian army, once legendary under Frederick the Great, was a shadow of its former self. Their soldiers were largely inexperienced, and even their commanders hadn’t seen battle in over a decade.

It’s said that during his visit to Frederick the Great’s tomb in Potsdam after Berlin fell, Napoleon remarked, “If this man were alive, I would not be here now.” This perfectly encapsulates how Bonaparte masterfully exploited the severe lack of effective leadership plaguing the Prussian forces.

Experience the Thrill of “1806: The Elbe Campaign”
“1806: The Elbe Campaign” plunges you into the initial, critical weeks of October 1806, culminating in the fall of Berlin. This operational-level game is designed for contained duration, offering a dynamic and succinct depiction of this pivotal conflict.

What makes this game truly exciting are its asymmetrical, sudden-death victory conditions. Every decision is critical, ensuring a consistently tense and vibrant experience:

• As the French, you must be aggressive, leveraging your superior mobility and leadership. But beware, early setbacks can crush your morale and decisively impact your campaign.
• As the Prussians, you command a numerically larger force with advantageous terrain, but you’re hampered by slowness and a lack of coordination. Your task is to maneuver wisely, delaying the French long enough for uncertain Russian reinforcements to arrive.

The game’s system emphasizes maneuverability and coordination over mere troop numbers, opening up a wide array of strategic options and providing excellent replayability. Plus, the crucial fog of war, vital for any Napoleonic game of this scale, is represented through simple, clear rules that deliver just the right amount of uncertainty about your enemy’s true intentions, especially in the crucial opening turns.

Can You Rewrite History?
Can you avoid Prussia’s devastating debacle and the fall of Berlin? Or will you emulate Napoleon’s military genius and bring Prussia to its knees?

“1806: The Elbe Campaign” is Volume I of our upcoming “Operational Duels” series, which will transport you through the most iconic campaigns of the Napoleonic Wars.

Wishlist “1806: The Elbe Campaign” today! We’re kicking off playtesting soon on our Discord server. If you’re interested in being one of the first to experience the game and help shape its development, join our Discord community here and head over to the #1806 section to let us know!

1. PRE-LAUNCH (IWO JIMA and SEA & STEEL)

Great news! Sea & Steel and Iwo Jima are confirmed for production. However, the initial print run is very limited. As a new independent publisher, this investment reflects our current production capacity and is not intended to create artificial scarcity.

Why Pre-Order?

  • Secure Your Copy: Reprints are not guaranteed.
  • Early Access: Get your game first.
  • Savings: Access exclusive deals.

You’ll find more information on our pre-launch and Incoming! (P-300) pages.

2. IWO JIMA: HELL ON EARTH

The final playtesting wave is wrapping up. The rules writers will soon begin the final rulebook revision, which we will share with you as soon as it’s available.

Our graphic designers are completing the artwork. The work-in-progress counters shown above are a preview. We expect to produce the printer sample shortly. Once available, we will create a video explaining how the game works to help you learn how to play. We will post these videos as soon as possible.

In the meantime, you can read Michal’s interview with game designer Jose Manuel Neva about the game on the Boardgame Chronicles blog: Read it here.

By the way, Michal recently published a Teach & Play video about our Iwo Jima: Lite Edition (PnP) on his YouTube channel, a simplified version of our upcoming title Iwo Jima: Hell on Earth. You can download the PnP game for free from our website: Get Iwo Jima: Lite Edition for free.

We’ve requested the printer sample and anticipate its arrival very soon! We’re thrilled to get our hands on it and will create comprehensive video content to showcase every detail for you. The rulebook revisions are in their final stages. We’ll share the polished document with you as soon as the graphic designer completes the formatting.

February 2025 – Monthly Update

February may be the shortest month, but we’ve been hard at work on our two upcoming games, making significant progress towards their release.

1. Incoming! P-300

We’re making progress on our two upcoming titles! We’ve reached 20% of our goal in the first pre-launch campaign, and we’re now focusing on creating printer samples. We’re aiming to give you a sneak peek at these in March.

For our US customers booking games through our
P-300 system:

Shipping costs for all games include any applicable tariffs on goods from China. We’ll handle everything from our fulfillment center, so you can simply relax and await delivery. Because this is a new and evolving situation, we’re committed to minimizing any impact on you. If shipping costs decrease by the time we collect payment, we’ll notify all US customers and adjust the shipping costs accordingly before final payment.
